Mexico has plenty of destinations worth visiting and exploring, this time is the turn of exploring the state of Zacatecas. Zacatecas is located in the North Central region of Mexico and characterized by being surrounded with rocky mountains. I probably won’t give any more serious information because later there will be a debate whether the information is correct or not. Instead I will share with you my experience about this place.
As soon as I arrived to the state, the first stop was in a town called Guadalupe, this town is so close to the capital that you don’t even realize when you are in other place. In this town I visited a museum called ‘Museo de Guadalupe‘ in which you will find an exuberant number of baroque paintings distributed across all the rooms that conform this museum.
Not only the paintings are here to be appreciated but also the facilities that are worth to admire and why not, to be captured with a camera.
In Zacatecas there is a special landmark known by many and it is called ‘cerro de la bufa’ which is a very recognized mountain and can be appreciated from downtown and many spots of the city. This mountain characterizes the city because takes part in the history of this place; nowadays it has a museum, and a base in which the landscape of the city is breathtaking. There is also a cable car which connects this mountain with another point of the city close to a mine.
Another landmark is an hotel called ‘Hotel Quinta Real’, this hotel is considered a landmark mostly because before it was an hotel it was a very important bullring for the city. With time and money, now it is considerably luxurious hotel. Another interesting fact about this, is the old aqueduct that is just besides the bullring giving an amazing view to the city.
In any state of Mexico, you can find incredible architectonic landmarks, these being mostly Cathedrals and churches or that once were but now are museums and Zacatecas is not the exception. The magic about its downtown is that within a couple of steps you can find with more and more buildings to explore.
As final note about this place: the downtown of this city is magical and so photogenic without a doubt I totally recomend it because its worth visiting. And in the night the illumination is on point.
